Our journey began with an ambitious project: the disassembly and reassembly of a pre-revolutionary frame. This initial endeavor ignited our fascination with timber structures, setting the stage for our remarkable trajectory in the industry.

Our Team

Our team is the driving force behind a wide range of timber construction projects, blending time-honored timber framing methods with contemporary building technologies for lasting results. Our team of experts is diverse, with specialists in Estimation and Pre-Construction, Project Management, Design, Fabrication, and Installation.

Our Project Management team plays a pivotal role, meticulously overseeing each project from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and client expectations are met with unwavering attention to detail.

Design is where ideas take shape. Our designers collaborate with clients to create structures that are not only visually appealing but also structurally sound. In Fabrication, the K2 team utilizes the precision of our Hundegger CNC machine, while our traditional carpenters bring their expertise in hand cutting and classic joinery, blending technology with craftsmanship in every project. The Installation crew brings these designs to life, adhering to the highest standards of construction safety and excellence.

Designer / Draftsperson

The Draftsperson/Designer will be responsible for creating detailed shop drawings of components made from a diverse set of materials in order to support ordering, fabrication, and installation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • 3D modeling of timber frame structures
  • Detailed shop drawings for timber, steel, and other components as required per project
  • Square footage calculations and material take-offs for hardware and other items
  • Understanding of project objectives in order to efficiently support project managers with required drawings, communications, and information
  • Serve as a key link with clients, engineers, and architects; maintain communication with up-to-date information and review any deliverables in detail as needed
  • Work closely with in-house carpentry teams on fabrication and installation of timber components in projects
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel, each which may be in their own stage of completion
  • Understand and abide by safety standards in compliance with local and federal law
  • Work within established technology and systems

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in drafting, architecture, or related field (construction preferred)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Architecture (2018 and later)
  • Familiarity with SketchUp (experience not required)
  • Solid understanding of construction detailing 3D modeling of timber framing preferred, but not required
  • Solid prioritization skills and ability to re-prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Experience with standard Microsoft office tools: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Deadline driven, must be able to work under time pressure
  • Expert listening and communication skills
  • Positive, proactive, and helpful attitude

Timber Frame Carpenter

The Timber Frame Carpenter will be responsible for a number of different woodworking and finishing tasks related to the preparing, cutting, and finishing of wood materials for installation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and work off of architectural shop drawings
  • Operation of stationary and power tools used in woodworking shops
  • Hand cutting timbers using a combination of hand and power tools
  • Ability to layout and cut material based on architectural and/or engineering drawings
  • Fitting of joinery with solid timber or engineered lumber to ensure proper construction
  • Finishing material by planing, sanding, and staining/oiling
  • Lifting or carrying heavy material and/or tools
  • Advocate for safe use of tools and equipment and general shop safety
  • Communicate and collaborate with other project team members

Qualifications

  • Timber framing experience preferred but not required
  • Forklift experience preferred but not required (training is available)
  • Ability to make precise cuts from accurate layouts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Expert listening and communication skills
  • Positive, proactive and helpful attitude with a willingness to learn

Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Project Manager in project planning, contract administration and managing time, cost, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will have an innate ability to organize and communicate in a dynamic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager in the scheduling and facilitation of pre-construction meetings and site visits with the owner/client to discuss and define project requirements in order to establish an effective work plan and appropriate deadlines
  • Complete understanding of project objectives in order to efficiently assist in the planning, budgeting, material purchasing, and resource allocation for project success
  • Basic accounting functions including managing the projected costs of a budget vs actual expenses; issuing of change orders to customers and subcontractors at the direction of the Project Manager
  • Coordinate the efforts of a diverse set of participants in a project, which include architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and laborers to deliver against projected timelines while adapting to change in a high-paced dynamic environment
  • Monitor and document the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and be able to articulate the status on all assign projects currently in progress
  • Serve as a key link with clients; maintain communication with up-to-date information and review any deliverables intended for client consumption
  • Work closely with in-house design and fabrication teams on procurement, fabrication, shipping, and installation of timber components in projects
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel, each which may be in their own stage of completion
  • Understand and communicate safety standards in compliance with local and federal law
  • Work within established technology systems and identifying opportunities for improvement when applicable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, operations, or related field (construction preferred)
  • Ability to read shop drawings prepared by architects, engineers, or other drafts people intended for fabrication, permitting, or installation
  • Resolve problems effectively and clearly communicate results
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to re-prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Expertise with standard Microsoft office tools: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Deadline driven, must be able to work under time pressure
  • Expert listening and communication skills
